1. Check if your booking was eligible for a refund
As a first step, please verify that your booking was eligible for a refund at the time of cancellation. This information is visible on your My Bookings page once the booking is cancelled, or it can be confirmed by our support team.
If a refund was issued, you should also receive a refund confirmation email in your inbox.
2. The refund was issued, but you haven't received it yet:
Here at Bookaway, we use a deferred payment system. Your payment for a booking is held until the booking gets approved. Only after approval is obtained, the amount is charged.
It's important to note that the refund process depends on whether your booking was still pending or already approved at the time of cancellation.
If your booking was still pending: The refund will be returned to your account through a reversal. In such cases, the refunded amount may not appear as a separate line item in your bank statement, but the charge will be entirely removed.
-
If your booking was already approved: The initial payment amount was charged, this means that typically, it takes 7-10 business days for the refunded amount to appear in your account.
If after 10 business days, you still haven’t received your refund, feel free to contact our support team.
3. Refunds via coupon or credit
When cancelling a booking, you may be given the option to choose how your refund is issued either as a coupon/travel credit or back to your original payment method, depending on the cancellation policy.
If you selected the coupon or travel credit option, the refund will not be returned to your card or bank account. Instead:
You’ll receive an email with the coupon code
The coupon can be used for a future booking on our website
If you’re expecting a refund to your original payment method but received a coupon instead, please check the email sent after cancellation.
If you would prefer the refund to be returned to your original payment method, feel free to contact our support team and we’ll be happy to help review your case.
